American Legion Post 15 is where the town's expats actually gather, and it's open to the public: famously cheap margaritas and frozen house tequila, karaoke nights where five dollars in gets you on the singing list, and a back patio that pays real tribute to the veterans who built the place. Newcomers who just moved down use it as the fastest way to meet people, which is most of what a Legion post is for.
The food is honest bar fare that serves the socializing rather than the other way around, with breakfast and lunch available most days. Note for returning visitors: it moved to the Baja Hotel building, so follow the current pin, not the old one.
