Mare Blu Ristorante
Italian seafood directly on the sand, with the sunset doing half the work.
Mare Blu is on the beach rather than near it, which is most of the case for eating here. The kitchen is Italian by way of the Gulf, so the fish arrives treated rather than simply grilled. It reads as the anniversary and last-night restaurant more than the casual one, and the tables face west for a reason.
Local tips
Book for sunset and ask for a table on the water side. Servers get remembered by name in the reviews here, which is usually a sign of a room run properly.
What to order
The blackened grouper is the plate people rate above everything else. Seabass alla Ligure for the Italian side of the menu. Shrimp Fantastico to start, on the servers' own recommendation.
Getting there
The last stretch is dirt and gravel. It is passable in an ordinary car taken slowly, but worth knowing before setting off in something low.
