Borracho is the cantina that invested in itself and it shows: a sharp remodel with room inside and out, AC when the afternoon demands it, a small stage in the corner for live bands, and a big one out back for beach-weather concerts with bonfires on the sand. Drinks come ice cold and service moves fast. The whole operation runs bigger than the usual beach bar.
The surprise is the menu's range. The blackened grouper and ceviche have drawn best-ever declarations, the coconut shrimp arrives with a sweet sauce that earns it, and the pasta side of the menu (a fresh-tasting Alfredo, a loaded frutti di mare) holds up in a way cantina pasta has no right to. Dogs are welcome; they've been known to bring the dog water first.
Local tips
Check who's playing before you go; the back stage on a warm night with a bonfire going is the full experience. Inside has AC for the afternoon shift.
What to order
The blackened grouper, or the ceviche. Coconut shrimp alongside. The jalapeño poppers have their own loyalists, and the pastas are the sleeper move.
