El Tapeo is what happens when owners who genuinely love hospitality build the wine bar they would want to drink in. The plates are refined and tapas-style, from Mexican chefs: stuffed mushrooms and poblano lasagna, with salmon worth remembering. Dessert is goat-cheese-stuffed dates wrapped in bacon under a red wine reduction, which people photograph mid-sentence.
The wine list runs to a genuinely unusual assortment of Mexican bottles, and the house pours its own artisanal beer. The terrace looks over Playa Bonita while live music plays most operating nights. Laura and Martin run it personally and it shows; the staff get named in reviews like family. Two moods are on offer: the polished indoor wine-bar room, or the patio with the beach doing the decorating.
Local tips
It runs Wednesday through Sunday, so plan the fancy night accordingly. There is a Paint and Sip on Wednesdays and Sundays if your table skews creative.
What to order
The stuffed mushrooms and the poblano lasagna. The bacon-wrapped dates in red wine for dessert, non-negotiable. Ask for a Mexican wine pairing or the house Cachora beer.
