Eating in your nana's kitchen: stove-pot coffee and killer mole, with a stew that ends arguments.

La Cocina de Regina feels like being welcomed into somebody's grandmother's house that happens to serve the best home cooking in the neighborhood: bright colors, great art, coffee brewed in a pot on the stove the old way, and an owner who greets tables personally. The carne en su jugo (beef, beans and bacon in a tangy broth) has been called the best stew of someone's life in writing. The mole gets the same treatment, and the burrito Carolina (eggs, bacon, potato, avocado) quietly builds its own fan base at breakfast.
When something goes wrong, they fix it immediately and warmly; the service reputation here is the real thing, not the brochure version.
Local tips
It has moved locations before, so trust the current map pin over an old memory. Come hungry; portions run big enough to plan leftovers around.
What to order
The carne en su jugo, the mole, chilaquiles verdes in an omelette at breakfast, and the stove-pot coffee.
