Arturo's immaculate Sonoran kitchen on a dirt side street. Hand-pressed enchiladas, and chicharrones that steal the table.

Quinto Sol is the one that makes people feel clever for finding it. It is a modern, immaculate little restaurant on a dirt street a block or two off the road to the malecón, staffed in professional attire and anchored by Arturo, who learns your name and adjusts to your Spanish, then hosts like the room is his home. The food is Sonoran and chef-level. Enchiladas come on hand-pressed masa patties. Chicharrones get crowned the star of the table by reviewers, and there is a chicharrón omelet for the committed. El Chando is Sonoran dried beef worked with peppers and onion, served with beans and cheese and tortillas. Hours run breakfast through lunch. The orange juice and lemonade are fresh, the waffles come crisp outside and soft inside, and the bill arrives embarrassingly low for what just happened. People drive from Arizona for lunch here on purpose.

Local tips

Trust the map through the dirt street; the last two unpaved blocks are the price of admission. Morning through lunch is the window; this is not a dinner house.

What to order

The Sonoran enchiladas with a side of chicharrones. El Chando for the full regional experience, and the fresh juice regardless.
